She has been temporarily replaced by Marty Marstiller and Jenna Habayeb according to Delta Galil CEO Isaac Dabah. Delta Galil acquired the three brands from VF Corp in June 2016 in a deal worth $120 million.


M&S taps Jill McDonald, an exec with no fashion experience, to captain its clothing biz. British retailer Marks & Spencer announced yesterday that it has hired Jill McDonald, the current CEO of car-parts company Halfords and a veteran of the fast-food and airline industries who has never worked in fashion, to head its non-foods business, which includes M&S's struggling clothing arm. McDonald will start in the fall and hold the newly created title of Managing Director, Clothing, Home & Beauty. Several industry analysts and insiders said that they were surprised by the news and were already questioning her suitability for the position.

Sônia Bogner, who ran the Bogner brand with her husband Willy Bogner Jr, is dead at 66. Sônia Bogner , who for decades co-headed the Bogner skiwear brand started by her father-in-law in 1932 and replaced her mother-in-law as creative director of Bogner Woman starting in 1979, died yesterday in Munich after a long, undisclosed illness at age 66 . The native Brazilian started as a sales apprentice to Valentino in the 1970s and, after marrying Bogner Jr., went on to help her husband expand and grow the now $300+ million business by launching new categories and collections, including the Fire + Ice label and the eponymous Sônia Bogner collection, which debuted in 1992.


Gildan Activewear net sales and earnings rise in wake of American Apparel acquisition. Canadian company Gildan Activewear, which acquired American Apparel in January 2017 for $88 million , reported a 12 percent increase in net sales compared to the prior year for the quarter ended April 2, to $665.4 million, and net earnings of $83.5 million, a 32.1 percent rise compared to first-quarter earnings last year. The 28-year-old basics and sportswear brand is now fully integrated into the Gildan stable but it remains to be seen if it will continue to be produced exclusively in the USA .

Chanel shows Greece-inspired Cruise 2018 collection. After unveiling previous seasons' Cruise collections in spots across the globe Karl Lagerfeld returned to home to Paris to reveal his Cruise 2018 catwalk presentation on Wednesday. Called "The Modernity of Antiquity" the Greek-inspired collection was presented at two shows at The Grand Palais amidst a set that resembled historic Hellenic ruins and columns. Evoking modern Greek goddesses, the looks featured draped fabrics, one-shoulder peplos silhouettes , cinched waists, metallic headbands and heeled gladiator sandals in bold colors such and yellow, green and red as well as black.


Bergdorf Goodman unveils Linda's, a new shop-in-shop curated by head buyer Linda Fargo. New York shopping temple Bergdorf Goodman officially launched a special new store-within-a-store concept at its Fifth Avenue flagship on Tuesday evening. Named after its longtime head buyer Linda Fargo, the new area called Linda's on the store's fourth floor features some of Fargo's favorite picks of in-season designer duds, vintage accessories and small gift items. The 600-square-foot shop was welcomed by 100 fashion VIP guests at a sparkly opening party .


Etsy announces management changes; shares drop. Online DIY retailer Etsy announced on Tuesday that its CEO and Chairman of the Board, Chad Dickerson, would be stepping down effective immediately. Dickerson's roles will be filled by Josh Silverman and Fred Wilson, respectively. Company shares fell 14 percent in the wake of the news after Etsy also reported zero earnings in the first quarter. It also fell short of projected Thompson Reuters revenue expectations of $98.4 million with just $96.9 million. In addition, the Brooklyn-based company, announced that it will cut 8 percent of its workforce , or 80 jobs. The company, which went public in April 2015 , has come under fire in recent years with accusations that it sells counterfeit merchandise .


White House confirms that Mrs. Trump's fur-wearing days are over. Stephanie Grisham, Melania Trump's East Wing communications director, confirmed in an email to CNN yesterday that the American first lady, who has previously been photographed sporting fashions made from animal pelts, no longer wears clothing made from real fur. The executive mansion clarified Trump's stance after actress and animal-rights activist Pamela Anderson tweeted a photo of a thank-you note from Trump for a faux-fur coat by Russian brand Only Me that Anderson sent to her shortly after the inauguration in January.
