To Marc Jacobs from Kenzo... LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton is moving Eric Marechalle from his current position of CEO at Kenzo to the same role.WW-DD9Pyuu4 at Marc Jacobs International. He succeeds Sebastian Suhl who is leaving (paywall) the French luxury company. Marechalle's successor at Kenzo should be announced shortly.

…and from Burberry to Topshop. British Arcadia Group has named Paul Price CEO of its Topshop and Topman retail concepts. Price comes from the British luxury label Burberry where he last held the position of Chief Merchandising Officer. He takes over the responsibilities of former Topshop Manging Director Mary Homer, who left the company in March. The position of Topman Managing Director Philip Cooke is not affected.



Double duty. French fashion house Kering has named (in Italian) Laurent Claquin CEO of its designer label Tomas Maier, succeeding Giuseppe Giovannetti, who left the group on July 15th. Claquin adds this position to his existing duties as Head of Kering Americas and reports to Kering’s Group Managing Director, Jean-François Palus.



Leaving luxury. Thomas Ott has been named (paywall) Chief Merchant at Hudson's Bay Company's off-price units Saks Off 5th and Gilt. Ott, who has been with HBC over two decades, last held the position of SVP and General Merchandise Manager of menswear and concessions at HBC’s luxury chain Saks Fifth Avenue. He succeeds Kristen Sosa, who moved to luxury e-tailer Olivela.

London calling! Chinese fast fashion retailer Urban Revivo will open its first store outside of Asia at the upscale Westfield London shopping center next March. Until 2020, the self-proclaimed "trendsetter for fast luxury" plans to expand its store network from currently 160 locations in Asia to 400+ branches worldwide.



American dream. Upscale Italian outerwear label Herno continues its international expansion with the opening (in Italian) of its first US store. Located in New York’s hip Soho neighborhood, the shop has been designed to feel like a living room. Herno currently operates ten stores, 25 shop-in-shops and 15 concessions worldwide.

Cold Turkey. US apparel giant VF Corporation will close its Soke production plant in Turkey in October, affecting 680 employees. For a more flexible sourcing model, the apparel giant plans to outsource production in Turkey. Another VF plant will close in Argentina, where sales have been sluggish.

Sparking a purchase. Amazon has launched a new shopping app based on purchasable images. Amazon Spark asks Prime members to post images and stories of products and allows others to react with smiles and comments. Products that are available to buy are marked with a bag symbol which can be tapped for instant purchase.

Three pennies' worth. When off-price retailer Saks off 5th began selling coveted Hermès products on its website, fashionistas got instantly excited - until the discount was more closely inspected. On the retailer’s clearance page, the styles - six Birkin bags, four Kelly bags and two Kelly watches - were discounted three cents each.



What is fashion, anyway? In its second-ever exhibition about clothing the Museum of Modern Art aims to answer this question. Titled Items: Is fashion modern? the 350 piece exhibition offers interpretations, looking at the larger role fashion plays in our lives by the example of hoodies, platform shoes and - the Birkin bag.
